Summary of plastic news in brief from the Nordic plastics industry

Strengthened collaboration

Denmark: Nordic Polymers has been a distributor for LyondellBasell's engineering thermoplastics in the Nordic territory, for long. Since September, the cooperation now also include distribution of masterbatches in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

 

New CEO at HordaGruppen

Sweden: HordaGruppen has appointed Andreas Helmersson as CEO. The owner and former CEO, Lars Lejon, will remain in the company.

 

Nolato digitizes the factory

Sweden: During the autumn of 2020, Nolato Gota will digitize and streamline the factory in Götene with the help of Good Solutions software. A job that aims to strengthen the company's competitiveness.

 

New CEO at Rapid

Sweden: Rapid Granulator Group has appointed Jonas Wästberg as CEO of the company from 1 September.

 

Transfer all shares 

Sweden: Bitumina International has acquired Neste's shares in Nynas. As a result of the change of ownership, Bitumina will be the largest shareholder in Nynas AB with 50 percent of the shares

 

At least SEK 40 million annually

Sweden: At Berry Superfos Mullsjö AB, many exciting machine investments will be made in the future. The company's factory manager, Johan Rosell, estimates machine investments of almost SEK 40 million annually over the next two to three years.

 

Newly started rubber company

Denmark: RubiNord is a new start-up company which delivers components in various rubber materials and silicone. The company will offer a total concept from development and prototype production to production of finished articles.

 

Supplier acquired

Finland: The technology trading group Addtech Automation has acquired all shares in Finnish Kaptas Oy. The acquired company develops complete automation systems for customers, primarily in the metal, plastics, pharmaceutical and food industries.

 

Zeiss acquires 3D-CT

Denmark: Zeiss has acquired the measurement company 3D-CT, of which Carl Zeiss has been a minority owner since 2012. The company works with several customer groups, such as the pharmaceutical, machinery and plastics industries.

 

Battenfelds new techcenter

Sweden: Battenfeld Sverige AB has opened a technology center in Anderstorp, as a complement to the head office in Halmstad. Wiba Automation AB will also take part of floor space for building and assembling automation cells.

 

New CEO at Emballator

Sweden: Joakim Johannesson has been appointed CEO on 1 September at Emballator Mellerud Plast AB in Mellerud.  

 

A successful year

Norway: The Norwegian Polymer Institute Norner reported a good result for 2019 and the good trend has continued in 2020. The result for the first half of 2020 is the best in the polymer institute's history. During the year, 16 new researchers and engineers have been hired so far.

 

Broadens its ownership

Sweden: Anatomic Studios, manufacturer of personalized and customizable 3D-designed covers for prosthesis users, has broadened its ownership image with three new owners. With the new resources, the founders aim to automate the workflow and prepare for a broader launch outside Sweden and the Nordic region.
