Elastomers run in our DNA: Hytrel TPC from Celanese

Bjørn Thorsen is the distributor of Hytrel® TPC (thermoplastic polyester elastomer) from Celanese in the Nordics, Baltics and France, enhancing Bjørn Thorsen’s offering of soft and flexible elastomers.

The addition of Hytrel® TPC to Bjørn Thorsen’s current selection of elastomers, like Santoprene® TPV from Celanese or Opti-Pren™ TPV, Opti-Soft™ TPE and Opti-Flex™ TPO from Customized Compound Solutions A/S (CCS) enables the creation of a wide and versatile portfolio of elastomers available in a “one-stop shop” format for the customers and emphasizes company’s commitment to delivering circular solutions to the market.

Hytrel® TPC is a multipurpose high-performance thermoplastic elastomer known for its exceptional combination of strength, flexibility, durability and for its sustainability features. This innovative material is widely used in various industries, including automotive, consumer goods, industrial, and more. Key characteristics of Hytrel® TPC include:

  • Excellent mechanical properties: Hytrel® TPC offers outstanding resilience and elasticity, making it ideal for applications requiring both strength and flexibility.
  • Chemical resistance: It is highly resistant to chemicals, oils, and solvents, ensuring long-term reliability in harsh environments.
  • Wide temperature range: Hytrel® TPC can perform consistently across a broad temperature range, from -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F), making it suitable for diverse applications.
  • Low compression set: This material maintains its shape and elasticity even after prolonged compression, ensuring a longer product lifespan, reducing the need for replacements and minimizing waste.
  • Easy processing: Hytrel® TPC is easy to process using standard thermoplastic techniques, making it a cost-effective choice for manufacturers.
  • Recyclability: Hytrel® TPC is recyclable, enabling the recovery and reuse of materials in various applications. This circular approach contributes to reducing waste and conserving resources.
  • Reduced emissions: Using Hytrel® TPC in automotive and industrial applications can lead to weight reduction, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
